We’re appearing at this weekend’s Lakes International Comic Art Festival from Saturday to Sunday, 19th-20th in Kendal in the Lake District, drawing, signing and talking with a whole host of amazing comicy talent that includes Jose Munoz, Oscar Zarate, Steve Bell, Joe Sacco, Posy Simmonds, Bryan and Mary Talbot and too many more to mention.
We’re drawing and signing books at the Clock Tower from 16.00 on Saturday and talking as part of the Cape Crusaders event from 14.00 at the Brewery Arts Centre theatre. Check out the links for ticket and event information if you can make it. It’s going to be a good one.
We’re taking part in this Saturday’s Comica Comiket at Central St. Martins this Saturday 20th along with a host of comicy talent, stalls and events. Warren’s taking part in the drawing parade, live scribbling to music and we’ll be signing copies of Montague Terrace at the Cape table. It should also be an opportunity to get your hands on a signed copy of our other book of greatest hits, The Great Unseen, I mean The Great Unwashed. A rare and precious moment!
Ever on the ball with things pertaining to our own neglected publications, we’ve only just come across this post by nice guy in comics, Kenny Penman, for the Forbidden Planet Blog, where he’s placed our book The Great Unwashed at number 3 in his best graphic novels of 2012, just behind the immense Building Stories by Chris Ware and equally superb Love and Rockets, New Stories 5, by Los Bros Hernandez. To say we’re honoured and chuffed at this doesn’t really cut the (Pat) mustard, but we are and hopefully this kind of praise and recognition will eventually help get our book out further to the gasping public, craving for tales of paranoid pirates, terrible teenage poets, kitchen-sink-marmalade-on-cheap-sliced-white drama and dysfunctional American dynasties!
Warren will be signing copies of the exclusive, elusive, infusive (?) new (ish) Pleece Brothers graphic novel, The Great Unwashed, published by Escape Books this Saturday the 8th of December at Gosh Comics, 1 Berwick St, London W1F 0DR, from 5-6 pm.
Also, those crazy fools at Gosh have given me permission to scribble all over their windows in celebration of this momentous event.
Come early to take advantage of the best signature doodles!
If any of you are in London tonight, me and brother Gary will be launching our new graphic novel, The Great Unwashed
, published by Escape Books at the Phoenix Artist Club
, 1 Phoenix St, London WC2H 8BU with a song and a dance, from 6-9 p.m.
Escape Books publishers Paul Gravett and Peter Stanbury will be on hand, fezzes on heads, as it’s also this month’s Comica Social Club event.
The first 100 copies sold will also come with a limited edition Reg Chivers ‘not-so-saucy’ postcard, specially squiggled and doodled on by yours truly.
We look forward to seeing you if you can make it.
Warren’s going to be signing copies of The Great Unwashed at The N.I.C.E. Comics Expo in Kettering tomorrow, Saturday 23rd. There’ll be limited edition postcards available for everyone who buys a book! He’ll be on a table with Pauls Rainey and Gravett, if you want to find him.
PS He’s the balding handsome one(?!)
PPS He wrote this. Who does he (I) think he is/ am?
Many thanks for everyone who came to our Brighton launch last night at The Hotel Pelirocco and made it such a greatly unwashed evening. Now, go on and shower.
Wondrous prizes were to be had in the Reg Chivers style raffle, including a years supply of pig custard, a copy of the brand new book and a half bottle of sherry (don’t say we’re not cheap) amongst other gems.
For those of you who couldn’t make it to the smallish, but perfectly formed velveteen heart of the Pelirocco lounge, fret not, because we’ll be signing copies of The Great Unwashed at Dave’s Comics tomorrow, Saturday 15th, from 1-3 p.m. The first 100 copies sold will also come with a limited edition signed postcard featuring a hand-drawn sketch of Wigan’s finest, a Mr R Chivers, so don’t miss out on the predicted stampede of Pleece Brothers merchandise!
As mentioned before, there’ll also be a London launch and signing at The Phoenix Arts Club on Wednesday 26th from 6-9 p.m. for those of you residing in the smoke, coinciding with Paul Gravett’s Comica Social Club monthly event. A must!
And if that wasn’t enough, and you can’t wait to get your peep holes on some new Pleece Brothers related material freshly inked and on a screen near you now, the latest Alby Figgs episode, ‘Sis’ is now up at the Alby site here and now http://wp.me/s2xlpi-sis where it’s almost as if old Ingmar Bergman’s taken over from fairly oldish Waz Pleece in this week’s director’s chair! Oh, man of few words…
Yes, control yourselves pop pickers! Those doyens of inky black, noiry, sea-sidey, tea-time tales, Gary and Warren Pleece, will be signing copies of their brand new, Escape Books published graphic novel, The Great Unwashed at Dave’s Comics in Brighton on Saturday 15th September from 1-3 pm!
Special doodles all round!
And if that wasn’t all, there’s only another Alby Figgs episode out today @ http://wp.me/p2xlpi-1G Alby tells the kids ‘how it was’ in latest ep, Buzz Bomb…
This weeks Alby episode, WWW, available here http://wp.me/s2xlpi-www reveals all and more on one Albert Figgs’ contribution to the global communications revolution . Now the truth can be told…
Also, here’s a link, pingback, what have you, to an article at Robot 6 and the Comic Book Resources site on the previously mentioned existence of our new graphic novel, The Great Unwashed, years in the making, a couple of hours in the reading, but oh, what hours, dear readers.
Yes, The Great Unwashed is back from the printers! Brought down today to drizzly Brighty courtesy of those two doyens of all things comicy and Escape Books publishers, no less, Paul Gravett and Peter Stanbury.
After a long, long wait, I’m pleased to say the book looks great and will be on sale from September 14th via the Escape Books website and all good comic and book stores.
We’ll be having a couple of launches in September in London and Brighton, news to come on those soon, and will no doubt be flogging this mother of all graphic novels to death in a town within a 50 mile radius to you very soon!
